What’s the best class for beginners at MTK Gym?
All our classes are beginner-friendly! For your first few sessions, we’ll pair you with an experienced partner to guide you alongside the trainer. It’s normal to feel a bit lost initially, but with consistency, you’ll quickly get the hang of the movements and techniques.
What do I need to bring with me for my first session?
Boxing Gloves, Handwraps, Beach-sized Towel or yoga mat (not both—just either or), WATER! LOTS OF WATER, and Your ID. We have glove rentals for $5 and handwraps for sale in our store—yes, handwraps are required!
Do I have to spar?
No, sparring is not required, but it is encouraged! We create a safe environment for everyone to practice what they learn in each class, but it is not mandatory. We separate these classes on specific days/times, which you will see on your member app and can avoid if you are not interested.
What are the parking options at MTK Gym?
At our North Hollywood location, you’ll find 5 parking spots behind the building and plenty of street parking out front. The Glendale location doesn’t have on-site parking, but there are several parking structures and street parking options nearby (note: we don’t validate parking).
What happens during my first session at MTK Gym?
Arrive 10–15 minutes early for check-in and a quick tour of the facility. Your session will start with a cardio warm-up, followed by partner pad work, bag drills, or partner exercises. We’ll wrap up with strength and conditioning, focusing on key muscle groups like your back, chest, and legs.
What are the age requirements for joining MTK Gym?
Our kids’ program is designed for ages 5–12, while those 13 and older join our adult classes. And remember, it’s never too late to start your Muay Thai journey!
Do I need to be in shape to start training at MTK Gym?
Not at all! That’s exactly why we’re here. Muay Thai will help you tone up, shed stubborn fat, and strengthen your heart.
How long is each session?
Each class is 1 hour and 15 minutes long.
